The Gauteng Department of Education will reward townships schools which got a 100% matric pass rate for 2016 with full ICT infrastructure and software for all grades.
The announcement was made today when MEC for Education, Panyaza Lesufi, conducted a ceremony to recognise the schools and its top pupils.
Six township schools out of 32 public schools achieved 100%. They are:
Rietvallei Extension 1 Secondary School, Swaneville – Gauteng West District
Kgokare Secondary School, Sebokeng – Sedibeng West District.
Madibane Comprehensive School, Diepkloof, Soweto – Johannesburg North District.
Kwena Moloto Comprehensive Farm School, Bultfontein – Johannesburg North District.
Raymond Mhlaba Secondary School, Tshepisong – Johannesburg West
Prudence Secondary School – Tladi, Soweto – Johannesburg Central District.
These schools are part of the Senior Secondary Intervention Programme (SSIP), which is a research driven programme that targets and supports learners on subjects and topics they normally struggle with in an examination.
